Chris and Brooke’s Romantic Pink and White Spring Wedding

Today on the blog, we’re sharing Chris and Brooke’s Romantic Pink and White Spring Wedding, some of their favorite moments from their special day, and how all the details came together to create the perfect wedding!

Chris and Brooke met through mutual friends at an event in church youth group when they were both in high school. That’s right, high school sweethearts! He proposed to her on their college graduation Day at Liberty University. Brooke says, “In between ceremonies, he surprised me by having all my close family and friends in one room and got down on one knee. It was a very special and exciting day having two major events in one.”

We’re excited to share more below on how their Romantic Pink and White Spring Wedding came together at Tate House! So, read on for all the sweet details!

Romantic Pink and White Spring Wedding

What was your wedding date and why did you choose it?

Our date was Friday, April 16, 2021. We chose this day because unfortunately we were a Covid couple who had to postpone our wedding. Our original date was May 29, 2020, but at that time, no one felt safe to travel and we knew we had to move it. We decided to move forward and got married in our living room as our close family watched via Zoom on April 16, 2020. What makes this specific date so special is that it is my grandparents wedding anniversary and they have been married for 55 years as of that date and it was also our one-year anniversary.

What was your overall vision for your wedding?

We wanted the wedding to be romantic, classic, but with a pop color which is why I chose more of a bubblegum pink for the bridesmaid dresses and bright pink tones in the bouquets. We were beyond happy with how everything turned out and we received many compliments on every aspect including the décor, food, venue, and cake.

What do you feel was the most special component of your Romantic Pink and White Spring Wedding?

I feel the most special component was simply having the event on the day we did and being surrounded by our wonderful family and friends who traveled near and far due to us having to postpone it. It made the day that much more special because everyone knew how long we had waited.

How involved was your groom in the wedding planning process?

He was much more involved than most grooms I have seen but it showed me how much he cared about making our dream day so special. Some of his favorite parts were picking out the tuxes, making the seating chart, and deciding on music choice. Something that was important to him was to have a dinner music playlist of some of the classics such as Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Tony Bennett. We felt as though it fit perfectly with the venue and to set the mood for dinner.

Can you tell us more about your theme of a Romantic Pink and White Spring Wedding?

For a color pallet, we chose colors that really matched the time of the year with us having a spring wedding. Our colors were bubble gum pink with a mixture of bright pinks, white, and subtle greenery. Paul at the Tate House did an excellent job at making our vision come to life through the floral and décor. We also specifically wanted peonies as that is one of my favorite flowers. Our colors worked perfectly with the design of the wedding invite we chose, and we even added pink up-lighting to the reception area to help highlight our chosen pallet.

How important are the typical wedding traditions? Did you plan on doing something outside of the norm to make your wedding more of your own?

With our true wedding event taking place on our one-year anniversary, that alone made our wedding outside the norm as our ceremony was essentially a vow renewal. We said personal vows which was especially important to Chris and we did a first look which was something that was important to me, so this was a huge area we found compromise. We absolutely loved the first look because it gave us time to not only get the photos we wanted but to also have those sweet, intimate moments of being able to talk and enjoy ourselves before the ceremony.

Why did you choose your wedding venue?

We cannot say it enough – We LOVE the Tate House. The staff goes above and beyond in every area and we are so grateful for our experience and time there. Everyone was extremely kind, considerate, and enjoyable to work with. The way they handle the wedding planning process helped put as at ease. A huge reason we chose the venue was of course how beautiful and grand it is. We wanted something different, something that would make people be like “WOW!” and that is exactly what the Tate House does.

We also loved their package deals and how they have in-house catering and floral. Those things help make the planning process go much more smoothly. We fell in love on our first tour and for weeks after, I could not stop looking at the photos I had taken. We enjoyed each time we had the chance to visit whether it was for a planning meeting or for their annual Bridal Open House event. I would recommend anyone and everyone to this gorgeous venue!
