Create a Schedule

Between getting hair + makeup done, taking pictures, and having any personal + intimate moments, it’s so easy to find yourself running out of time before the wedding festivities begin. It’s so important to make a list of everything that needs to happen that day and when it should happen. It might seem like they are things you know you won’t forget, but you’ll be surprised by how much stress creating a schedule takes away. Then you know what you need to get done, in what order, and how long you want it to take. That being said, it’s a helpful tip to always allot yourself a little more time than expected for each activity. You want to truly be able to enjoy each moment, not feel rushed. Create your schedule before the day of the wedding, and you’ll start remember extra things to add along the way.

Plan time for yourself

When you create your schedule, make sure that you allot some time for yourself. Whether it’s a short walk, morning yoga, or reading a chapter of your favorite book, in the end you’ll be happy you gave yourself some time to be alone. You will have plenty of time to enjoy moments with your friends + family all day. A short 30 minute period of relaxation might be just what you need to alleviate some of the wedding day stress!

Have a large space + lots of room

One of the best tips we can give brides for getting ready on the day of the wedding is to make sure you give you + your bridesmaids plenty of room to get ready. A lot of stress can be avoided when you’re not stepping on everyone’s toes or bumping into each other. Your big day is all about enjoying time + celebrating with those most important to you. You don’t want to feel overwhelmed due to crowded spaces. The best way to avoid this added stress, is to simply find a place large enough for you and your bridal party to get ready!

At our mansion venue, all of our wedding packages include 2 hours for brides to use our two level, elegant chic vintage bridal cottage. This spacious cottage is equipped with multi station vanities, a kitchen, sitting room, and large bathroom as well as a separate suite for the bride. You can also upgrade your package to include longer use of the cottage as well as food. We believe it is so important for the bride (and her party) to feel relaxed + comfortable while getting ready for her wedding day!

Make sure to eat

It’s not uncommon for a bride to lose her appetite due to nerves or stress on the wedding day. However, even if you don’t feel hungry, it’s never a good idea to skip meals on the day of the wedding. Whether it’s brunch with your girls or a fruit bar in the getting-ready space, make sure you don’t forget (or run out of time) to grab a bite. Along with this, make sure you are staying hydrated throughout the day too! Not only does water keep your skin glowing, but it will keep you feeling happy + healthy. The last thing any bride would want is to feel light-headed (or even worse, faint) during the ceremony, reception or dancing. Our bridal cottage packages also offer various snacking + meal options to keep you and your bridal party ready for the day!

Know what you want

Our last tip is to help brides get the wedding photos of their dreams– this includes “getting ready” photos. Getting-ready photo ideas are starting to pop up all over pinterest. There are so many cute, creative + fun photo opportunities that arise while getting ready, both of just you + your party. You’re going to want pictures to help you remember every detail of your wedding day. We find it helpful when brides know a little of what types of “getting-ready” photos they want. Make sure to have a few inspiration ideas on your phone or in your head to share with your photographer. Not only will this help give you more time, but will also make sure you get cute photos.
