Dream up your wedding vision

Chances are you’ve been thinking about and dreaming up details of your wedding for years! And now it’s time for those dreams to come to life. But before diving into every little detail, think big picture. Start dreaming up your perfect wedding vision and go from there. You might not have the budget or time to include every tiny detail you’ve pinned to your Pinterest board, and getting overwhelmed by it all can make your planning much more stressful. Once you’ve set your wedding vision, you can more efficiently work towards achieving it! Plus, it’s great to know big picture to share with vendors, especially if you’re using a wedding planner. They can help you narrow down your choices and nail the specifics to make your wedding everything you’ve dreamed of!

Start your “potential” bridal party and guest list

Another step you should take soon after getting engaged is starting a guest list. Of course, this list will always be growing and changing but it is helpful to start early. If you’re considering inviting someone add them, and if you know for sure that you’re inviting them add them. Don’t rely on your memory. It’s helpful to sort your list. Consider adding a “must invite” and a “maybe” division. This helps you stay organized and helps you if you have to narrow down your list. Distant relatives and old friends’ names will always be popping into your head so having an ongoing list will allow you to not feel rushed or forget someone.

Don’t forget to celebrate!

You’re working to plan a day full of celebration that represents you and your significant other’s love story. Don’t forget that this is supposed to be a fun and exciting time. Remember to enjoy the little moments with friends and family. Before you jump right into planning every little detail, go out with your fiance and spend some time alone celebrating. Throw a party with your friends. Make your engagement an occasion you’ll never forget!

Have anything else you’d add to the list? We would love to hear! Happy Planning!
